Steel Purlins

C & Z purlins are manufactured from steel strip coils through a dedicated roll-forming process using specialized purlin roll-forming machines.

Steel purlins are widely used as structural framing and roof trusses for warehouses, industrial plants, and civil construction projects, as well as steel rafters for mezzanine floors, prefabricated buildings, truck bodies, and various other general applications.

Purlins are manufactured from hot-rolled, cold-rolled, or hot-dip galvanized steel as raw material, and are produced to custom lengths, dimensions, and punched hole positions in accordance with each customer’s design specifications.

C-Section Purlins (Cee Purlins)

C-Section Purlins feature a C-shaped cross-section profile and are extensively used in the construction industry, owing to their lightweight characteristics, high tensile strength, excellent load-bearing capacity, and ease of assembly and installation. As a result, C-purlins are among the most widely used construction materials in structural applications, including residential buildings, warehouses, industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, and high-rise structures. They are also used in the fabrication of furniture items such as tables, chairs, cabinets, and beds. Black steel C-purlins are commonly used as structural framing and roof trusses for industrial plants and as steel rafters for mezzanine floors.

C-Section Purlins are available in two standard types: galvanized C-purlins and black steel C-purlins.

  • SMC Cee purlin products feature a C-shaped cross-section profile, designed and manufactured in a wide range of sizes.
  • Products are manufactured from hot-rolled, cold-rolled, or hot-dip galvanized steel raw material.
  • Purlins are produced to custom lengths, dimensions, and punched hole positions in accordance with each customer’s design specifications.
  • In cases where purlins are manufactured from black steel billet (hot-rolled), the finished product will undergo surface treatment and painting prior to delivery.

Product Features & Applications of C-Section Purlins

  • Large Span Capability: Cee purlins are manufactured from high-strength galvanized steel at 450MPa or hot-rolled steel of sufficient structural grade, enabling exceptionally large spans while maintaining deflection within permissible limits.
  • Simple Installation & Low Cost: Purlins are cut and punched to project design specifications, allowing for straightforward and precise on-site installation.
  • Lasting Aesthetics & Reduced Maintenance Costs: Purlins manufactured from high-strength galvanized steel provide superior protection against corrosion and rust, eliminating the need for anti-rust painting, reducing long-term maintenance costs, and delivering a clean, bright, and durable finish to the structure.
  • Versatile Size Range: Cee purlins are available in cross-sectional heights of 80, 100, 125, 150, 180, 200, 250, and 300mm, with thicknesses ranging from 1.5mm to 3.0mm — accommodating a wide variety of span and design requirements.
  • Comprehensive Accessories: Cee purlins are supplied as a complete system, together with bracing rods, gusset plates, and bolts, ensuring full material compatibility and maximizing the structural lifespan of the building. Cee purlins are bundled into packs, with the actual quantity per pack depending on section size, order quantity, and length. Each pack weighs approximately 1 metric ton. Corrosion warranty is provided subject to the design, location, and intended application of the purlins for roofing and wall cladding systems.
  • Packaging & Delivery: Steel purlins are available in the following types: C-section purlins, Z-section purlins, hollow section (box) purlins, and galvanized steel purlins.

Z-Section Purlins (Zed Purlins)

  • Z-section purlins are manufactured from steel strip coils through a dedicated roll-forming process using specialized purlin roll-forming machines, producing finished steel purlin products for use in industrial and civil construction.
  • Raw materials for Z-purlin production include hot-rolled steel or galvanized steel. The form and specifications of Z-purlins are produced in accordance with individual customer requirements.
  • Z-purlins feature one wide flange and one narrow flange. Two sections of the same size can be nested together, making them highly suitable for lap splicing and assembly. This characteristic allows Z-purlins to increase the effective cross-section at connection points, significantly enhancing load-bearing capacity at locations of maximum bending moment and shear force.

  • SMC Zed purlin products feature a Z-shaped cross-section profile, designed and manufactured in a wide range of sizes.

Product Features & Applications of Z-Section Purlins

  • Large Span Capability: Zed purlins are manufactured from high-strength galvanized steel at 450MPa or hot-rolled steel of sufficient structural grade, enabling exceptionally large spans while maintaining deflection within permissible limits.
  • Simple Installation & Low Cost: Zed purlins are cut and punched to project design specifications, allowing for straightforward and precise on-site installation.
  • Lasting Aesthetics & Reduced Maintenance Costs: Purlins manufactured from galvanized steel provide superior protection against corrosion and rust, eliminating the need for anti-rust painting, reducing long-term maintenance costs, and delivering a clean, bright, and durable finish to the structure — a key advantage of this product.
  • Versatile Size Range: Zed purlins are available in standard cross-sectional heights of 150, 180, 200, 250, and 300mm, with thicknesses ranging from 1.5mm to 3.0mm — accommodating a wide variety of span and design requirements.

  • Packaging & Delivery: Zed purlins are bundled into packs, with the actual quantity per pack depending on section size, order quantity, and length. Each pack weighs approximately 1 metric ton.
  • Corrosion Warranty: Corrosion warranty is provided subject to the design, location, and intended application of the purlins for roofing and wall cladding systems.
