SMC Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company has undertaken a new investment in the 9.7-hectare SMC Phu My project cluster at Phu My 2 Industrial Zone, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province, with a total investment capital exceeding VND 1,000 billion. The cluster comprises one joint venture between SMC and Samsung C&T, and two wholly-owned subsidiaries (100% SMC-owned), forming the largest Steel Processing and Coil Center complex in Vietnam, with a total designed capacity of 300,000 metric tons of steel and 10 million units per annum. The project cluster has been substantially completed, fully commissioned, and has been in full commercial operation since early 2022.
The SMC Phu My Precision Engineering Plant — specializing in stamping, pressing, and forming of high-quality steel components for suppliers in the electronics, home appliances, automotive, and motorcycle manufacturing sectors — has completed the construction and full equipment installation of Phase 1, comprising two (2) progressive stamping lines and one (1) single-stroke press, with a designed capacity of 2 million units per annum. All machinery and equipment were imported from South Korea. Following a rigorous trial run and direct quality assessment by Samsung Group, the Precision Engineering Plant commenced commercial supply to Samsung Electronics Ho Chi Minh City (SEHC) in February 2022 — officially becoming part of Samsung’s global supply chain.
